State tax refunds to be issued

Some good news for state taxpayers! Every Massachusetts resident who filed a 2021 state income tax return is now eligible for a refund check.

This state law (called Chapter 62F) is triggered when total tax collections in a given year exceed a statutory cap tied to wage and salary growth. State Auditor Suzanne Bump has certified that this threshold was met for the 2021 tax year, therefore taxpayers will get a refund in proportion to the amount of personal income taxes they paid last year.

Highlights of this refund are below. There is also a helpful website here from the Baker Administration with more detailed information, plus a calculator to determine how much you can expect to get back. See mass.gov/62frefunds
