UNEMPLOYMENT ISSUES VIRTUAL TOWN HALL ON SUNDAY

As you can imagine, we’re getting lots of inquires about unemployment assistance. The Legislature just a couple days ago approved legislation to allow more folks to quality and get their benefits quicker. This is much needed, but of course it also adds to overall volume and impacts system capacity. To help with this increase demand the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development & Department of Unemployment Assistance will be hosting virtual town hall meetings. They will offer step by step process of achieving a successful unemployment claim and be taking questions from claimants. Applicants should file for benefits at https://www.mass.gov/unemployment-insurance-ui-online

The first virtual town hall will be held this SUNDAY, MARCH 22 at 3:30pm. Sign up information for the virtual town hall is available at www.mass.gov/unemployment/townhall.

To further help claimants through the process of applying for benefits, we have made specific web page updates that include the latest guidance for employee qualifications and additional resources like contact forms and a COVID-19 specific unemployment claim handbook that can be viewed at https://www.mass.gov/resource/information-on-unemployment-and-coronavirus-covid-19?fbclid=IwAR2Ig9Mz9bO44_BTvxs3ZwlbxXHIneDOLFQ3hp21fej_x453x-el0-9Fqcc
