On Wednesday, the House passed a supplemental budget for FY2023 which includes $280 million for emergency shelter, school meals, SNAP benefits, and extensions of popular pandemic-era policies.
Some of the major highlights include:
$86 million toward expanding the emergency shelter system by approximately 1,100 units;
$65 million added to the Universal School Meals program to ensure full funding for this school year;
68 million in Early Education & Care Workforce Stabilization Grants;
Remote Notarization and Public Meetings were extended to 2025.
This legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration.
